Silica Power 50%: A Potassium Silicate Fertilizer for Plant Stress Management
Silica Power 50% is a concentrated liquid formula containing 50% potassium silicate. It is developed for agricultural use to help plants manage abiotic stress factors common in the Egyptian climate, such as high temperatures and frost.

- Potassium Oxide (K₂O): 25%
- Sulphur (S): 17%
Key Benefits
- Heat Stress Mitigation: Silicon deposits in the plant’s epidermal cell walls and cuticle. This physical layer helps regulate transpiration (water loss), which aids the plant in managing periods of intense heat and maintaining metabolic functions.
- Frost Damage Reduction: The accumulation of silicon in plant cells increases the concentration of solutes in the cell sap. This physiological change can lower the freezing point of water within the plant’s tissues, thereby reducing the likelihood of ice crystal formation and cellular damage during frost events.
- Structural Support: Silicon contributes to the mechanical strength and rigidity of plant cell walls. This can result in sturdier stems and leaves, reducing the risk of lodging (bending or breaking) in applicable crops.
- Source of Potassium and Sulphur: Silica Power 50% contains Potassium (K₂O), a macronutrient involved in plant water regulation, enzyme activation, and fruit development. It also supplies Sulphur (S), an element required for the synthesis of certain amino acids and proteins
Application Guidelines
- Method: Foliar Application
- Recommended Rate: 0.5 – 1 kg per 200 liters of water.
- Instructions: Apply as a spray, ensuring uniform coverage of the plant’s leaves. For optimal uptake, application is advised during cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late afternoon. Application prior to anticipated stress events (e.g., heatwaves or frost forecasts) is recommended.
